Australia is facing significant challenges in the field of cybersecurity, which are among the biggest in the country. These challenges are complex and require a comprehensive approach to tackle them effectively.

Lieutenant General Michelle McGuinness, appointed Australia’s premier cyber coordinator in February, brings a wealth of experience and expertise in tackling some of the most complex intelligence challenges during her tenure as the only non-American deputy inside the US Defense Intelligence Agency. At the Australian Cyber Conference in Canberra, McGuinness highlighted the ever-evolving nature of cyber threats and the need for constant vigilance to stay ahead of them. She emphasised that her role as national cyber security coordinator is to position Australia as a more cyber-resilient nation, ensuring that we are well-prepared to respond to cybersecurity incidents while proactively addressing threats to our national cybersecurity.
